The City of Elgin utilizes the services of ATS Engineers, Inspectors and Surveyors to perform all plan reviews and inspections within city limits.
It is the responsibility of the permit holder to call in or e‐mail inspection requests for each phase of construction prior to proceeding with construction and/or covering work. Passed inspections allow construction to proceed to the next phase. Failed inspections (where a non-compliance exists with the applicable adopted codes and/or ordinances) shall be remedied and re‐inspected for compliance prior to proceeding with construction. All re-inspection fees must be paid to the City before re-inspections are to be scheduled. A check made out to the City of Elgin in the amount of $131.93 per the first and second residential re-inspection and $156.93 for the third or more failed inspection or $174.75 per commercial re-inspection for the first and second failed inspection and $199.75 for the third or more failed inspection must be received at the Elgin City Building and Planning office.
